The Suzy Chase Starter Pack: 2024 Edition
5 Things I Loved This Year
As the year winds down, I’m reflecting on some of my favorite discoveries, experiences, and little joys that made 2024 extra special. Consider this your Suzy Chase Starter Pack — five things that brought me inspiration, comfort, and creativity this year. Let’s dive in!
1. Homemade-ish by Lauren McDuffie (Cookbook)
’s Homemade-ish has become a kitchen companion I can’t stop recommending. It’s all about embracing simplicity while creating dishes with depth and soul. Whether you’re hosting friends or cooking for yourself, this book hits all the right notes. Bonus: I got to interview Lauren on Dinner Party — what a joy!2. The Perfect Candle: Dinner Party from Big Night
Nothing beats a cozy night in with a warm-scented candle glowing in my West Village apartment. This year, I kept reaching for a classic: Dinner Party from
’s darling shop in my neighborhood. Its warm, nostalgic fragrance creates the perfect backdrop for hosting friends, sharing stories, and savoring comfort food. Light it up, serve a glass of wine, and let the evening unfold with warmth and good company.3. Friendsgiving (Non-Potluck Edition)
Hosting a non-potluck Friendsgiving this year was a game-changer. No dishes to coordinate, no recipe overlaps — just good food, good friends, and a table full of laughter. I loved creating a thoughtful menu and seeing everyone relax and enjoy the evening. Fun fact, I always have the Mom Jeans channel playing on Sirius/XM.
4. The Martha Stewart Documentary
I dedicated a solo podcast episode to this one, but it’s worth another shoutout. The documentary on Martha Stewart reminded me why I fell in love with homemaking and storytelling in the first place. Her journey, resilience, and relentless pursuit of creativity continue to inspire me in life and podcasting.
5. Alpenglow-Inspired Decor
Interviewing
about the concept of Alpenglow — a lifestyle rooted in nature and seasonal living — sparked something in me. I found myself layering natural textures, cozy throws, and warm, sunset-inspired hues into my apartment. It’s a small, beautiful way to stay connected to the rhythms of nature, even in the city. These five highlights defined my year in the most joyful and meaningful ways. What’s in your 2024 Starter Pack? Drop me a note — I’d love to hear!
Here’s to more discoveries, delicious meals, and creative moments in the year ahead.
