I love a list, and what's funny is that not a single item on it is a weight-loss product.
That’s because maintenance has become less about losing weight and more about building a life around it.
May was a good reminder of that.
This month included trampoline classes at The Ness, heavy lifting at Liftonic, daily walks, sleep experiments, recovery work, and plenty of moments where I was trying to figure out whether a scale fluctuation was actually fat gain or just life happening.
These are a few of the things getting me through GLP-1 maintenance right now. I rolled out these goodies on The Downsized YouTube show a few weeks ago, chatting with Laraine. Nothing is sponsored; I just wanted to share what’s getting me through maintenance right now.
Hal’s Fruit Punch Seltzer
I drink a lot of water, but sometimes I want something with a little personality.
This has been my current obsession. It takes me back to summers at the Prairie Village Pool, drinking Kool-Aid.
It’s become my afternoon treat and helps me stay hydrated without thinking about it.
Sleep Patches
The longer I’m in maintenance, the more convinced I am that sleep is one of the biggest levers we have.
I’ve become fascinated by how a great night of sleep can change recovery, hunger, energy, mood, and even what the scale does the next morning.
I hate taking pills, so I’ve been using sleep patches lately and they’ve become part of my nighttime routine.
Joint Support
This month was full of workouts, as is every month.
And while I love feeling stronger than I did a few years ago, my body occasionally reminds me that I’m 58.
Anything that supports recovery and keeps me moving has become more important than ever. As I said, I hate taking pills so this is my replacement for acetaminophen after heavy lifting or hard cardio.
Alastin Tinted Sunscreen
This one has nothing to do with GLP-1s and everything to do with feeling good. I saw Martha Stewart on the Skinny Confidential YouTube show, and she swears by this. I mean, is Martha ever wrong?
It’s become my everyday sunscreen and makeup replacement. I love it because it gives a little shimmer and evens out my skintone.
If you’re not a huge makeup gal, like me, you will love this simple product.
Magnesium Body Serum
I don’t know if it’s an age thing or a glp-1 thing but my arms have started to become a bit crepey. I was searching around for something that wasn’t a gloopy lotion so I found this handy stick that I can pop in my bag.
There are a few different scents and you can find it at Target. It helps.
Poppi
I still love a fun drink and what’s more fun than an old fashioned Shirley Temple!
Little things matter.
Maintenance is hard enough without removing every bit of joy from your day. I still need to buy some maraschino cherries for the full throwback experience.
FaceGym Youth Reformer Serum
This one falls into the category of things that simply make me feel good. Every morning before I work out I slather this Vitamin C oil on my face, it’s super moisturizing and leaves a bit of a dewy and hydrated look with zero makeup on.
I also use it underneath a full face of makeup. For my skin it has worked better than regular ole moisturizer.
Vaseline Cocoa Shimmer Jelly Stick
This is pure fun.
It’s basically a little glow stick for your skin, and as we head into summer, I don’t know about you, but my lips are always dry. I have one of these sticks in every room of my house plus it’s always in my purse.
It has a little cocoa butter + vitamin E that leaves a non-greasy glow that I love.
That’s what May looked like for me.
What are your faves right now? I’d love to hear in the comments.
Everything I talked about today lives inside a one-page system I created and have been using for the past year — The GLP-1 AI Method. Your weight, your workouts, your recovery — all of it in context instead of chaos. Download it below, pay what you wish.
