Living in my cozy rental apartment nestled in the heart of the West Village, NYC, has been a transformative design experience. While I initially grappled with the challenge of making this temporary space feel like home, I've come to realize that you don't necessarily need an interior designer to explore your personal interior design style. Instead, I've embraced the freedom to experiment, adapt, and infuse my own personality into every corner. Interior design journaling is a practice I’ve been doing for years. It’s the most effective tool to focus my design thoughts and goals. As the host of the only design book podcast, “Decorating by the Book,” I've had the opportunity to engage with some of the top interior designers, architects and tastemakers, which has given me a deep understanding of the nuances of design, the creative process, and the challenges homeowners face. It's amazing how small changes, from colorful throw pillows to creative wall art, have breathed life into my space. It's a testament to the fact that even within the confines of a rental, I've created a sanctuary that reflects my unique taste and personality without breaking the bank. So, my humble abode has become a canvas for self-expression, proving that with a touch of creativity and a dash of inspiration, you can truly make any place your own.
Interior design is inside of all of us. We just need to tap into it. Reconnect or connect with your own unique design preference.
